LEMON GREEK CAKE

1 | package | lemon cake mix |
1 | cup | uncooked farina |
1 | cup | milk |
5 | | eggs |
1/2 | cup | oil |
1 | cup | chopped walnuts, divided |
| SYRUP | |
1 1/2 | cups | water |
1 | cup | sugar |
1/2 | teaspoon | lemon peel |
3 | tablespoons | lemon juice |
- In large mixing bowl, combine cake mix and farina. Add milk, oil and eggs. Beat, then stir in 3/4 cup walnuts.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes or until cake is done. Place on wire rack, but do not remove cake from pan.
- With fork tines, prick holes in top of cake, and slowly spoon syrup (recipe follows) over cake. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup nuts. Cool completely.
- For Syrup:
In pan, add water, sugar, lemon peel and lemon juice. Bring to a boil and boil, stirring, for 10 minutes.
